Educational Games

The computer games I involve myself in today are the RTS (Real Time Strategy) games such as the Total War Franchise.

I play the Empire Total War, Shogun Total War, and the Medieval Total War games for education about historic events and information about a certain faction, units,  or piece of equipment. I find it a great game for teaching students or kids a fun way about history and the events that occurred. I’ve I learnt a lot about certain historic events just by playing these games, its a great thing because its all based on fact, not fiction.

In them, you can change the course of history, so that the nation/empire that was the dominating power during that period of time, is nothing more than a weak insignificant nation/country. They don’t explain to you what the world would be like if the faction/nation you chose to play as, was the dominant faction during that era of time. They’re still a great source of historic knowledge for historic battles, military units, buildings, and why the factions/nations that were dominant during that time period were the dominant ones. The wealth they might of had, the military power or influence they may of had during their time.

Here are some video links showing the gameplay of them

Mystery Link Up

Today we had a mystery link up with David Karnoscak, who we later discovered after many questions was from Waukegan, illinois. I asked and discussed with him questions to do with American colonial war history against the British and Native American Indians. My questions were: do you have a knowledge of the American Revolution and wars back during the 17th and 18th century? (e.g. battle of Little Big Horn between Crazy Horse and General Armstrong Custer.)

Link Up With Boston

Today in ICT we talked to people from Boston and a few others from Canada and Japan. We talked about what we do on our farms or what we do in our free time or with our pets.

I talked about what sort of farm I live on and what I do to help out and keep it running. It was interesting talking to people from different corners of the world and answering questions they had for us about our pets or farms, since they dont live or know much about what happens on a farm.
